It has been 10 long years since a Fallout title hit shelves. At 12:01a.m. this morning, Fallout 3 was released in the US by Bethesda Softworks to a frenzied acclaim by press and fans alike. Official Xbox Magazine gave it a 10 out of 10. Gamespot gave it a 9 out of 10. IGN gave the game a 9.6 out of 10. For those of you who can’t wait to get out of work to pick up your own copy, we’ve got those reviews and more details here:

There are times when I’m on the road, and neither my iPhone or my DS can really satisfy my gaming needs. Thankfully I picked up one of the new MacBook Pro’s not long ago, and can get a pretty decent gaming experience on there if needed. However, if I’m up for some Rock Band, or anything else that requires my 360, I’m pretty much out of luck. I mean who really wants to go through all of the hassle of unplugging it from their TV, loading up all of the cables (and that massive power brick), just for a bit of fun on the road?

If you’ve already pirated your own copy of Fallout 3, then you’re surely aware that the Xbox 360 version of Fallout 3 has been leaked. This is giving the pirates out there the one-up on all of the bugs and possible exploits the QA guys missed. Nobody likes a cheater, but when in Rome, do as the Romans do.

They never thought it could happen to them. The one, a widow, still haunted by the phantasmal caresses of his horrible murdered wife. The other, the vivacious child bride of her lover's widowmaker. The date of 9-9-99 should ring familiar to gamers. The Dreamcast launched alongside Namco’s epic fighter Soul Calibur on that September day, setting a precedent Dreamcast developers would struggle to match for the lifespan of the console. On the Live Arcade, the game proves it has extensive legs in its gameplay, but Namco has botched this port by excluding vital features.

It’s amazing what taking such a simple feature such as jumping out of game to do. Over the years, it’s something we’ve become so accustomed to, it’s impossible to live without. Bionic Commando didn’t just take it out, it replaced with a far more difficult to master mechanic, the bionic arm. A video game legacy was born.

Developed by the same team that handled an immense and spectacular Pac-Man sequel to the Live Arcade, the sophomore outing has a lot to live up to. Galaga Legions is unquestionably a fantastic shooter, but it’s not to Galaga as Pac-Man Championship Edition was to Pac-Man. This is a radically new game that happens to share some of the original assets.

Look, it was embarrassing to admit you hooked on a game where you bred pinatas. With the sequel, you can share in that embarrassment with three other friends online and realize you’re not truly alone.

The way it works is simple. The host loads up their garden. Other players enter. Other players become cruel jerks and beat all of the hosts pinatas with a shovel… or you can be nice and help them out, but what’s the fun in that? If you’re worried about some random Live user ruining your painstakingly created garden, don’t worry. It won’t ruin your save.
