Stellar Frontier 1.1

Stellar Frontier is a free multiplayer game that plays like an arcade game, but with an overall strategic look and feel. You are in command of a single starship for a chosen civilization (Humans, Drengin, or Arceans) either offline for fun, or online on servers that act as other players' star systems, advancing in rank as you gain experience. This allows you to fly different ships and try out weapons, as well as command AI-controlled ships.
Cross the arcade Asteroids with a good, old resource-harvesting strategy game, then make it massively multiplayer, and you'd get something like Stellar Frontier. You command a small ship fighting for one of three races. Your goal is to upgrade your ship and equip it with better weapons, and for that you'll need to colonize planets and destroy ships belonging to players on the other side. The game has no built-in tutorial or help system, but the developer s site has a long (but not-easy-to-understand) game guide. A rich set of weapons as well as a variety of tactical tricks make the game very addictive, once you've learned the rules. The fairly primitive 2D graphics, however, may turn off some. The game's dedicated and friendly online community is one of its main attractions. Taking into account its relatively small file size, we'd guess most gamers, especially shoot-em-up fans, will find Stellar Frontier a worthwhile download.
